Q1. Who are the Fair Boosters?
A1. The Fair Boosters, aka the Washington County Fair Boosters are a 501-c-3 non-profit organization consisting of 200+ members and associate members. The Fair Boosters originated in 1950 as a group of private citizens, then known as the Fair Movers, whose main purpose was to help relocate the original Washington County Fair from its original location at Shute Park to its current location directly south of Hillsboro Airport.
Q2. Why Should You Join?
A2. To help support the Fair Boosters mission of supporting the Fair Complex’s Mission Statement which includes; preserving the Annual Fair & Rodeo, promoting the “World-Class” agriculture of the County, provide a welcoming environment for volunteers, supporting life-long education of youth in agriculture (i.e. supporting the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and the 4H Organization).
In addition, the Fair Boosters help support community involvement in maintaining the existing Fair Complex buildings and grounds and supports rebuilding the facilities into a first-class venue for the Annual Fair & Rodeo, trade shows, public exhibitions and other public and community special gatherings. The Fair Boosters support all of the above with the goal of promoting the Washington County Fair Complex as a place where the citizens of Washington County can gather and share a sense of community.
Q3. Who May Join?
A3. Anyone interested helping with the Annual Washington County Fair and supporting the Washington County Fair Complex’s Mission Statement (see this link “http://www.faircomplex.com/general/mission.html”).
Q4. What does it cost to join the Fair Boosters?
A4. Individual Booster membership is $10.00/year and an Associate membership is $25.00/year.
